There have been lots of discussions lately around dangerous parking and poorly signed roads in our town. I saw this post by Cllr John Gurney ( https://www.facebook.com/Dunstable-Independents-103386167692876/ ) and thought it looked a rather clever solution for the town.
Cllr John Gurney Said –
WHO WANTS A ROAD TRAFFIC PLANTER?
This photo was posted on a Leighton Buzzard Facebook group on Saturday, showing a large wooden planter, with an traffic direction sign, in Rosebery Avenue, Linslade.
The fact it is on the road and not the pavement, in a 20mph zone, begs further questions; especially as residents in East Dunstable were recently told they couldn’t have any traffic direction or other signs erected for a certain junction.
Does Rosebery Avenue have a history of road traffic collisions or has this been installed as a preventative measure?
I am trying to find out more about this, and if there are others dotted around our CBC neighbouring town, Leighton-Linslade.
Apparently, this is to be discussed at the Leighton-Linslade Town Council meeting this Monday evening.
Dunstable Residents who have attended meetings in our Icknield ward have suggested we have something similar on residential street corners, to prevent cars parking there.
Seeing Central Beds Council put these on the road, and proving they can obviously afford to spend money doing so, may make you ask why Dunstable, and in particular, our Icknield ward, doesn’t have them too?
